OUR STORY
The Village Communities Development Organization is a registered 501(c)(3) Non-profit organization registered in Bensalem, PA and Ghana, West Africa. We are dedicated to helping children, at-risk adolescents and adults in rural Ghana.
The purpose of our organization is to establish a dedicated rural community center for educational development in Akyem Hemang, Fanteakwa district and its surrounding villages in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
In rural Ghana, getting an education includes paying school fees, that not all families can afford, in addition to walking great distances just to get to school or read a new book. For those with the opportunity to go to school, that may mean learning using outdated materials within often ill-equipped classrooms - but even with these adverse conditions, many children are diligent and are still able to push forward and stay dedicated to learning.
Many Ghanaians also do not have access to affordable healthcare, everyday supplies and hygienic materials that are taken for granted in other countries. Our organization strives to provide much needed help & assistance to modernize the overall health and educational experiences for our entire community.
The center will educate, encourage and enhance the welfare of these rural communicates by increasing levels of literacy and health education through seminars, workshops and any other appropriate means that we can facilitate for those in need.
A library, technology and resource center will be established to provide reading materials and study facilities for children. The center will also provide health advice & opportunities for adults and young adults to continue or complete their education as well as build the life & work skills needed to fully support themselves.
